Recently my daughter’s friend and Kindergarten classmate, Ansley Smith,聽 was diagnosed with Stage 3 Rhabdomyosarcoma, which is cancer. My heart sunk when Berlin told me “Ansley has cancer.” My first thought was that it was just kids talking and it couldn’t be the case. I immediately emailed her teacher in hopes of it all being some horrible schoolyard rumor. Unfortunately, that was not the case.聽 My first thought was, “what if this was Berlin, or Ebba, or Benham? What would I do?” The answer? “I have no idea!” I cannot begin to understand what it is like to be the parent of a child with cancer. The only thing I do know, is that if I were in their shoes I would hope that others would help me get through it.

I started thinking of ways that I could help out the family and decided that my upcoming Candy Shop themed mini sessions, on June 7th,聽 would be a great way to raise some money for them! I was planning to do them anyway, but once I created the event “Candy for Ansley,” the response was overwhelming! Each session is 15 minutes long and costs $50, all of which will go directly to the Smith family. As of today, I have 14 spots filled. Along with other donations, we are up to $820. I am fully expecting to fill those last two spots and be able to hand over a check for $1000 to the family 馃檪 I am so proud of my clients, family and friends for stepping up and helping this family. You all are amazing!!!

Candy Minis

My friend, Andy McCloy, who is the owner of BCI (Body Creations Inc.) has also decided to hold a Charity Boot Camp titled “Fight For Ansley.” This will take place on June 7th as well and goes from 10-11am. There is a minimum donation of $10 and all proceeds go to the Smith family. This is sure to be a fun event, with a dj and all! It’s a great way to get your sweat on for a good cause! Please join the facebook event under “Fight For Ansley” Also, if you are looking for a new workout program, BCI has an awesome Metabolic Blast Boot Camp for adults!!!

Please come out and join us at one of these events! If you are unable to attend but would still like to make a donation, please head over to

T-shirt orders will be taken at both events. Cost is $10 each. Bracelets will also be sold for $5 each.

I would like to introduce to you, Mr. and Mrs. Poe. This past March, I had the pleasure of photographing their gorgeous wedding at The Hampton Cove Wedding Plantation. I just love the southern charm that was featured in this Huntsville wedding. The venue, which is set in the woods, was the perfect setting for their big day. I couldn’t have asked for an easier couple to work with, they were both so laid back and easy-going, allowing me to create some pretty unique images! Congratulations Joey and Stephanie. xoxoxo

Newborn Photography has to be one of the most rewarding types of photography that I do. It’s so neat to see how in love parents are with this new life they’ve created.

Newborn Photography-Madison, AL

I absolutely adore newborn photography!!! Capturing those first moments in a babies life is absolutely amazing to me. I love how squishy and curled up these little bundles are in the first couple weeks of life.

Sweet, sweet Ethan, pictured here was less than a week old when he came to visit me at the studio. He was the perfect little model for his session!

For each newborn session I create a few custom pieces to photograph the baby in. Pictured above you can see an adorable pants and bow tie set that I constructed out of my daughter’s old shirt!

Did I mention how much I LOVE sleepy babies?!? I am so happy that I was able to snap a shot of Ethan’s yawn-too, too cute!

Now don’t get me started on tiny toes-they are my absolute favorite thing to capture.

This final shot is one of my favorites-Ethan looks so content all snuggled up in Mommy and Daddy’s arms.

Today, I would like to share the inspirational story of two amazing women! I had the pleasure of photographing them during one of their training sessions and I’ve seen first hand how truly dedicated they are! They aren’t only dedicated in bettering themselves, but the lives and well-being of others.

The first word that came to mind when I began writing about these women is “INSPIRE.” I knew the general meaning of the word, but when I looked up the actual definition I was certain that this was THE word to describe them!

4. To draw forth; elicit or arouse

6. To draw in (air) by inhaling.

Meet Tanzy!

1002806_428030267304629_872025470_n“I had always been an active and healthy young person. Had always competed in team sports and always had a smile on my face. But one day, something changed. The聽pressures of everyday life started to take a toll on me. Before I could realize what was happening I was burdened by depression, lost my drive and ambition and ballooned to 220lbs.

In 2012 I became tired of the dark cloud over my head and tired of living a life that was mediocre at best. God revealed that He had more in store for me. He also revealed that I cannot climb Mount Everest alone! I tried to lose weight by myself. I shut my husband, family and friends out! Finally it clicked. If I was going to regain my strength I need a strong support system.

I first opened up to my husband and finally accepted his help. Then I admitted my struggle to my parents. Together we came up with a weight loss solution that I was willing to try. For the first time in years of trying… I started to see results. Slowly but steadily the weight started coming off.

It wasn’t only the change in my body that amazed me, it was the change in my attitude and confidence level. I started approaching challenges with more faith and less fear. I found myself smiling more, interacting with people more freely. I was a better mom, wife and friend simply because I was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I finally saw that I didn’t have to live with that dark cloud over my head.

The victory that God has given me is not only about pounds and clothing sizes, rather its about reclaiming the power, strength, joy and peace the I allowed the enemy to take from me.
I’m half way through my health journey (50lbs lost). My life was created and is governed by the sovereign God therefore I will have the victory in this area of my life. Failure is not an option!”

Tanzy is happily married to Damian and together they have 3 spirit filled kids. “My husband Damian has been my biggest supporter and best friend. His faith in God and faith in me keep me pressing on in the journey”

Meet Natalie!

“One year and 4 months ago I started my life long journey of health and wellness. I decided on days leading up to that day that I had to reclaim my life, my destiny, my health and well-being. I knew I wasn’t happy with what I felt like, looked like and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to give my family what they needed if I didn’t have it in myself. I needed God and I learned through this journey聽more of who He really is; loving, merciful, healing, faithful, and most importantly He has become my friend! I urge my FB family that if there is anything you fear, anything you stand in need of He can do it and it will and can become a ripple affect in the lives of those you love. I didn’t know last September that this would be a spiritual journey but it’s been more that for me than physical! I testify because I know someone out there is ready to start something and You, with the help of the enemy are the only ones holding you back! Go on, take the leap of Faith…Jump forward towards the things you once only dreamed of being and start making it your reality in Him!!

Natalie and Tanzy aspire to become certified personal trainers so that can lead others trough their journey in health and fitness. Please show these ladies some love and support and join them in your own journey by “Liking” their FB page Fit FittHer Fittest This is a motivational page to help women excel in the area of health and fitness! Paige – Class of 2014

I know that I go on and on about how much I love where we live, but I think the best thing about this place is all of the amazing friends I’ve made. I am so thankful for them and the fact that they trust in me to capture their family’s most cherished memories!

Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing my friend, Marlec’s daughter for her senior portraits. We had so much fun walking around downtown Huntsville finding cool new spots. Paige is a traditional southern girl with a relaxed yet fun personality.

Miss Paige is a true beauty & I think you’ll agree when you see the images below!

Meet the Little Family!

Last weekend I had a blast shooting this mini session. For anyone looking to book a session where a toddler is involved, I highly recommend a 30 minute session! This is a perfect example of what a downtown Madison Mini Session looks like. In a short 30 minutes we were able to get a nice variety of images from various locations, all in the span of one city block! This is yet another reason why I love my town!

We’ve watched this little guy grow from a preemie to a toddler and boy has he changed. He has grown from a teeny tiny little baby into a full size toddler! He is pretty much the same size as my Benham, who is over half a year older! Now, this isn’t saying much considering the height difference in their Daddies, but still pretty darn cool!

I always have so much fun photographing my friend Kerrin’s family and when she told me she wanted her session to be in a cotton field this year I was super excited! As an Iowa girl, I had never seen a cotton field before moving to Alabama. It was love at first sight for the photographer in me when I spotted my first one! To me this session shouts “Fall in the South,” and I LOVE it.

Stephanie and Joey are such an adorable and friendly couple. I so enjoyed taking their engagement photos and am looking forward to their March wedding!

You’re going to love their session from 1818 Farms!

I love how their outfits coordinate but don’t match. This is a perfect example of how great photographs can be when you mix textures and patterns!
