Newborn Photography has to be one of the most rewarding types of photography that I do. It’s so neat to see how in love parents are with this new life they’ve created.

Newborn Photography-Madison, AL

I absolutely adore newborn photography!!! Capturing those first moments in a babies life is absolutely amazing to me. I love how squishy and curled up these little bundles are in the first couple weeks of life.

Sweet, sweet Ethan, pictured here was less than a week old when he came to visit me at the studio. He was the perfect little model for his session!

For each newborn session I create a few custom pieces to photograph the baby in. Pictured above you can see an adorable pants and bow tie set that I constructed out of my daughter’s old shirt!

Did I mention how much I LOVE sleepy babies?!? I am so happy that I was able to snap a shot of Ethan’s yawn-too, too cute!

Now don’t get me started on tiny toes-they are my absolute favorite thing to capture.

This final shot is one of my favorites-Ethan looks so content all snuggled up in Mommy and Daddy’s arms.

Today, I would like to share the inspirational story of two amazing women! I had the pleasure of photographing them during one of their training sessions and I’ve seen first hand how truly dedicated they are! They aren’t only dedicated in bettering themselves, but the lives and well-being of others.

The first word that came to mind when I began writing about these women is “INSPIRE.” I knew the general meaning of the word, but when I looked up the actual definition I was certain that this was THE word to describe them!

b. To affect or touch
4. To draw forth; elicit or arouse
5. To be the cause or source of; bring about
6. To draw in (air) by inhaling.

Meet Tanzy!

1002806_428030267304629_872025470_n“I had always been an active and healthy young person. Had always competed in team sports and always had a smile on my face. But one day, something changed. The pressures of everyday life started to take a toll on me. Before I could realize what was happening I was burdened by depression, lost my drive and ambition and ballooned to 220lbs.

In 2012 I became tired of the dark cloud over my head and tired of living a life that was mediocre at best. God revealed that He had more in store for me. He also revealed that I cannot climb Mount Everest alone! I tried to lose weight by myself. I shut my husband, family and friends out! Finally it clicked. If I was going to regain my strength I need a strong support system.

I first opened up to my husband and finally accepted his help. Then I admitted my struggle to my parents. Together we came up with a weight loss solution that I was willing to try. For the first time in years of trying… I started to see results. Slowly but steadily the weight started coming off.

It wasn’t only the change in my body that amazed me, it was the change in my attitude and confidence level. I started approaching challenges with more faith and less fear. I found myself smiling more, interacting with people more freely. I was a better mom, wife and friend simply because I was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I finally saw that I didn’t have to live with that dark cloud over my head.

The victory that God has given me is not only about pounds and clothing sizes, rather its about reclaiming the power, strength, joy and peace the I allowed the enemy to take from me.
I’m half way through my health journey (50lbs lost). My life was created and is governed by the sovereign God therefore I will have the victory in this area of my life. Failure is not an option!”

Tanzy is happily married to Damian and together they have 3 spirit filled kids. “My husband Damian has been my biggest supporter and best friend. His faith in God and faith in me keep me pressing on in the journey”

Meet Natalie!

“One year and 4 months ago I started my life long journey of health and wellness. I decided on days leading up to that day that I had to reclaim my life, my destiny, my health and well-being. I knew I wasn’t happy with what I felt like, looked like and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to give my family what they needed if I didn’t have it in myself. I needed God and I learned through this journey more of who He really is; loving, merciful, healing, faithful, and most importantly He has become my friend! I urge my FB family that if there is anything you fear, anything you stand in need of He can do it and it will and can become a ripple affect in the lives of those you love. I didn’t know last September that this would be a spiritual journey but it’s been more that for me than physical! I testify because I know someone out there is ready to start something and You, with the help of the enemy are the only ones holding you back! Go on, take the leap of Faith…Jump forward towards the things you once only dreamed of being and start making it your reality in Him!!

Natalie and Tanzy aspire to become certified personal trainers so that can lead others trough their journey in health and fitness. Paige – Class of 2014

I know that I go on and on about how much I love where we live, but I think the best thing about this place is all of the amazing friends I’ve made. I am so thankful for them and the fact that they trust in me to capture their family’s most cherished memories!

Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing my friend, Marlec’s daughter for her senior portraits. We had so much fun walking around downtown Huntsville finding cool new spots. Paige is a traditional southern girl with a relaxed yet fun personality.

Miss Paige is a true beauty & I think you’ll agree when you see the images below!

Meet the Little Family!

Last weekend I had a blast shooting this mini session. For anyone looking to book a session where a toddler is involved, I highly recommend a 30 minute session! This is a perfect example of what a downtown Madison Mini Session looks like. In a short 30 minutes we were able to get a nice variety of images from various locations, all in the span of one city block! This is yet another reason why I love my town!

We’ve watched this little guy grow from a preemie to a toddler and boy has he changed. He has grown from a teeny tiny little baby into a full size toddler! He is pretty much the same size as my Benham, who is over half a year older! Now, this isn’t saying much considering the height difference in their Daddies, but still pretty darn cool!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my husband played hockey for several years and we were  blessed with many great friends along the way.

This post is about one of our favorite hockey families!

A little over a year ago our dear friends, Shannon and Jordie were blessed by the (early) arrival of their baby boy. Baby Beckett decided to enter this world at only 29 weeks gestation, shocking us all! I remember getting the call saying that Shannon was going into labor and that this baby would be coming way earlier than expected. At the time we were living several hours away and I was unable to be there with my best friend as she became a new mother. I can’t tell you how hard that was for me, to not be there when I knew my friend needed me.

I can only imagine that those 7 weeks in the NICU must have been a blur to Shannon, Jordie and their family.

As fate would have it, our very best hockey friends are now a part of our team once again, only this time the boys are now coaching together!

Today, Beckett is a very healthy one year old who is growing steadily and amazing us all!

Shannon and Jordie are amazing parents and doing a fantastic job at raising their sweet little guy!

Do you love the idea of having a picture of your child to commemorate the new school year?

Do you hate the boring old school pictures taken with that horrific background?

Do you think you should be able to score nice portraits of your child without having to pay through the roof?

If you answered Yes to any/all of the above questions then I’ve got the solution for you!!!

JFDphotography is offering “Not Your School’s School Pictures!”

There is no need to make an appointment, just drop in from 2-4 on September 8th!

Hope to see you there 🙂

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a gorgeous girl, Morgan! Her parents bought this photo shoot as her birthday present and I think it was well worth it. I had a blast and I know she did too!

This rusted old building was the perfect backdrop for this sweet girl. Her soft beauty really stands out beside this old thing.

Amazing children's portraits Madison, AL

I told you she was gorgeous!

Outfit and location changes  from this full session gave her a variety of images to choose from. I think she not only looked like a model but she really felt like one too!

Amazing children's portraits Madison, AL

This girl can dance! She was absolutely stunning in her recital costume, especially against this old concrete slab.

Amazing children's portraits Madison, AL

She can sing too! Although it was hard to focus on shooting while she sang Adelle to me in her sweet voice, i was able to capture this vision I had in my head! A girl in a field with nothing but her music (and me I guess!)

Amazing children's portraits Madison, AL

Morgan conquered both of our fears by climbing up onto this bad boy! I’ve been eyeballing this fallen tree for some time and I’m so glad that my daring model was willing to climb up on it!

Thank you for such an amazing session-I had a blast!
